Another decisive win for Gabrielle Giffords. The Democrat representative has defeated Republican Tim Bee in the Arizona 8th Congressional District.
“Two years ago Southern Arizona said to Washington, change can’t wait. Well tonight the rest of America says they can’t wait for change either,” stated Giffords.
The Democrat and incumbent will be sticking around for another term. With 99-percent of precincts reporting, Giffords has a 55-percent lead over her challengers, Republican Tim Bee and Libertarian Paul Davis.
Now that the campaign trail is over, Giffords says Southern Arizona has a lot of work to do.
“We’ve got to get the economy back on track. Small business owners and large business owners are really struggling. Immigration problems have not gone away and we continue to be the most porous part of the Mexico border and third solar energy. I want Arizona to be the solar capitol of the world,” says Giffords.
Tim Bee conceded the race this morning with a phone call to Giffords. Bee served on the State Senate for the last eight years and is currently Senate President.
He recently came under fire for running a politically dirty campaign, something Bee denies.
“Absolutely we have had a wonderful campaign and I don’t have any regrets about how we ran it,” says Bee.
Bee ended up with 43-percent of the vote while Davis finished with 2-percent.
